Siddheswar Temple Bishnupur
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Siddheswar Temple is located in the town of Bishnupur and is one of the oldest of its kind in Manipur. Throughout the year, this beautiful Hindu temple in Bishnupur received a large number of devotees who come here to offer their homage to Lord Shiva. The idols of Lord Ganesha Jai Parshwanath and Goddess Durga are also installed in the temple. Traces its history from the Pala (medieval) period, the temple is reckoned amongst the highly revered religious places in Bishnupur. Moreover, in the Hindu month of Chaitra (March - April), a festival, Gajan, is celebrated in the temple on a grand scale. During this time, the temple is thronged with numerous visitors that come here from different corners of the country. Being more than thousand years old, the temple, at the southern end, still houses some scattered remains of dilapidated stupas.
Architecture
Siddheswar Temple boasts a unique Orissan style of architecture that grabs the eyes of many visitors and pass byers. The temple is magnificently built with a base dimension of 23 sq. feet. Besides this, the walls of the temple are worth giving an attention because of their rich ornamentation which depicts the replicas of the temple. There is a corbeled passageway that guides you to the inner chamber of this beautiful temple. Inside the temple, there lies the idols of Lord Shiva - the presiding deity of the temple, along with Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha and Jai Parshwanath.

The temple of Siddheswar in Bishnupur remains open throughout the year, and hence, can be visited in any month. However, the best time to visit Siddheswar Temple is from October to March. During these months, weather conditions in the town remains all pleasant for tourism.
