Tharon Cave Tamenglong

Located at a distance of approx 27 km from Tamenglong, the Tharon Cave which is also spelled as the Thaeuluan Cave is a 655.6 m long cave with five exits and 34 joints. On visiting the cave, tourists can find a map which is engraved and painted on the stone outside the cave which makes it easier for the tourists to explore the cave from inside. All the more the map assists the tourists to locate each and every nook and turn inside the cave and also figure out the alleyways inside. A visit to Tharon Cave is not to be missed when planning a trip to Tamenglong. The cave is of great archaeological and historical significance and is developed for tourism in Manipur.

History

Digging deep in the history, the Tharon Cave was once used as a shelter for thousands of years. The excavations that are inside the Tharon Cave have items related to the Hoabinhian culture of North Vietnam.
