Probably, one of the most beautiful temples of the city is Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir. Noted as a cultural hub of Bengali community, this temple in Delhi is perched on a small hill in Chittaranjan Park. Initially, it was established as Lord Shiva’s temple in 1973, that still stands in the vicinity. Later in 1984, larger temples of Lord Shiva, Goddess Kali, and Radhakrishna were established in the temple complex; the shrine of Goddess Kali being the main attraction of the temple. Apart from this, the atmosphere inside this temple is so divine and serene that one would definitely fall in love with this place on his/her first visit only. At present, this beautiful temple serves as an important cultural centre for the Bengali community, especially during the festival of Durga Puja, residing in the local area. All the Hindu festivals are celebrated in this temple; however, the five-day Durga Puja is considered as the main fete of the Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir. The first Durga Puja in Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir was organized in the year 1977 and since then, it has become a tradition that endures till date.
On each day of this festival, one can witness a large gathering of pilgrims performing all the rituals with great fidelity making Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir one of the top temples to visit in Delhi. Apart from this, other festivals like Lakshmi Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Kali Puja, and Saraswati Puja are also observed at the temple with all devotion and ardour. Being a prominent centre of convergence of Bengali community, the temple also organized various classes to teach the Bengali language to the general public. For that, there is also a library located inside the temple complex that houses a rare collection of books on Bengali culture. Along with that, a number of cultural programmes, events, and contests are also hosted by the temple throughout the year for children who inspire to learn about the Bengali culture. Furthermore, the temple complex also includes a musical fountain which is considered as the main highlight of the Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir. An evening musical fountain show is hosted by the temple which is the best way to relish the beauty of this temple.
Spacious Structure
Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir has a Bengali terracotta architecture design that dates back to 1984. The roofing architectural design of this Bengali Hindu temple can be described as the adaptation of traditional Chala roof that is a significant part in traditional Bengali’s hut. In the temple’s vicinity, there is an exquisite garden comprising bushes along with the flowers of yellow, violet, and red colours.
Opening/Closing Timing
The timing of Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir changes with the season. From April till October, the temple operates from 4:45 AM to 10:00 PM. Whereas, in the months from November to March, the timings change to 5:45 AM to 9:00 PM. Besides, timings of aartis and other activities also changes with the season.

How to Reach?
The nearest metro station from Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir is Nehru Place which is located at a distance of 2 km from the temple. The station lies on violet line metro. Similarly, one can also reach the temple from Kalkaji Metro Station which lies on both Violet and Magenta Line metro. The distance between Kalkaji metro station and Kali Mandir is just 3 km. From both the stations, one can hire an auto to reach the temple.
Best Time to Visit
The temple can be visited any time throughout a year. However, the best time to visit Chittaranjan Park Kali Mandir is during Durga Puja that comes in the Hindu month of Ashwin (September and October).
