Doonagiri Glacier Uttarakhand

A delight for the trekkers, Doonagiri Glacier is a prominent glacier located near Joshimath in Garhwal Himalayas. Imperative to the Dhauli Ganga system of glaciers, Doonagiri Glacier is around 5.5 km in length. A crystal clear stream originating from this glacier merges into the Dhauli Ganga near the Juma village.

The glacier is easy to access from the Juma village which lies on the Joshimath-Malari road. A 12 km long trek along the Doonagiri Stream starts from Doonagiri village that takes one to the snout of this glacier. While on the trek to the glacier one also gets to witness the surreal beauty of Bagini glacier which is located in the valley. The quaint Doonagiri village serves as a great camping site as it is situated in close vicinities of the glacier. Doonagiri glacier is one among the most popular jaunt for adventure lovers and ardent roamers. Tourists can best explore the wonders of Doonagiri glacier between mid May to mid October.
