Kashipur, a small city situated in the Udham Singh Nagar district in the Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand is blessed with natural beauty and a few ancient temples that have immense historical significance. This lowland destination in Uttarakhand has gained popularity as the new industrial city and it houses one of the important B-Schools in India, IIM. Other than industrial development, this city is known for its sanctity as it is the home to several Hindu temples and a Sikh Gurudwara. The tourist places in Kashipur are fewer like Govindsham Fort, the Tumaria Dam, and some ancient temples. During the time of King Harsha of Pushyabhuti Dynasty in 606-647 AD, Kashipur was known as Govishana and the place is also known to have a history of clothes and metal vessels trade.

In the context of the natural beauty, Kashipur has a lot in store for even this. Previously there were 12 lakes in the vicinity of this city but now one can find just three of them. There is also a Gurudwara named Shri Nankana Sahib which has a strong history behind it and is a popular place to visit in Kashipur as well. Shri Bheemshankar Temple and Chaiti Devi Temple are also some of the pilgrimage sites for the visitors but if you are more of a nature lover then you have a good time staying around the Drona Sagar Lake and Giri Sarovar Lake. The ancient Drona Sagar Lake is believed to had been made by the Pandavas for their teacher, Guru Dronacharya. They offered him this lake as Guru Dakshina.

Best Time to Visit Kashipur

The best time to visit Kashipur is during the winter season which starts from the month of October and lasts until February. This place looks really graceful after post monsoon months as well. The temperature is also chilly and sightseeing tours become more enjoyable.

  • Summer

    Kashipur sees summers between March to June and the temperature during this time is between 15°C and 30°C which is comfortable enough for the travellers to visit here. The evenings are pleasant as the temperature lowers down because of the cool breeze from the hills.

  • Monsoon

    Between the month of July and September, Kashipur experiences a moderate rainfall and the temperature ranges from 16°C - 26°C. The rain brings freshness and rejuvenates the vegetation of the city making it look quite charming.

  • Winter

    The winter season commences in October and lasts until the month of February. The temperature fluctuates between 5°C and 20°C. The temperature goes down after a few showers in the month of November. It is an ideal time to plan a holiday during this season.

How to Reach Kashipur?

Kashipur is well-connected with all the nearby cities and towns like Kathgodam, Bareilly, Moradabad, Ramnagar. Travelling by road to Kashipur will be smooth. But then if you choose rail as the medium, that also will be just as the place houses a railway station just 2 km away from the city.

    The nearest airport is about 68 km from Kashipur which is Pantnagar Airport. If you choose the airways for your travelling then you will have to get down at Pantnagar airport and then take a cab to reach Kashipur.

  • By Rail

    The nearest railhead to Kashipur is in the city itself. This means you can have a comfortable travel. Kashipur has decent connectivity with major cities and towns of North India.

  • By Road

    Kashipur is well-connected with all the nearby cities like Kathgodam, Bareilly, Moradabad, Ramnagar by NH-72. There are many interstate and intrastate buses that go to Kashipur at regular intervals. Cab service is also available for Kashipur from the above mentioned cities and Delhi as well.
