Kashmir and its lush green valleys and alpine lakes invite many adventurers for some adrenaline rushing trekking adventures. Fortunately, most of the treks in Kashmir require no permits from the Government authorities. Although, there are few treks in the valley for which permission has to be taken for the local police station. 

What is Required to Get a Trekking Permit in Kashmir?

Original and photocopy of Government photo identity card: One is required to carry any Government identity proof such as a driver’s license, Aadhar card or a passport. This identity proof is also required for treks that don’t require permit.

Medical certificate: On treks in Kashmir, a medical certificate has to be presented to get the trekking permit. This certificate is also required for treks that don’t require a permit.

Where to Get a Trekking Permit in Kashmir?

Trekking permits in Kashmir for few treks are required and can be issued from the local Police station where the trek is located at. A letter or a form has to be duly filled and the photocopy of the valid Government identity proof has to be submitted in advance for getting the permission.

Duration: Getting a permit/permission to trek in Kashmir can take anywhere between 1-2 days.
