National Rail Museum Delhi

This move was followed by adding passenger carriage. The first passenger journey was complete in the year 1853 between Bombay and Thane. Since then Indian Railway has seen many changes and advancements and the National Rail Museum is the narration of the journey of Indian Railway from 1853 to today. Opened on February 1, 1977, National Rail Museum has recently gained its reputation to be a major tourist attraction in Delhi with train enthusiasts coming to witness the glorious journey. A remarkable showcase of Indian Railways’ heritage, the museum exhibits some of the oldest steam engines and carriages. The heritage passenger carriages in comparison to modern bogey, stand miles apart. A kid-friendly museum, the museum will excite the kids as well as adults. The museum has some of the rarest exhibitions like the Fairy Queen, the oldest surviving steam engine in the world. There are also many other tourist attractions inside the museum like the 3D simulator, Rail restaurant, and the gift shop. 3D simulator allows you to witness the journey of some of the heritage trains of India and be a passenger on it. Apart from the outdoor display, the museum also boasts of an interior museum which has various modern and retired signalling system. Visitors are also treated with a train ride inside the Museum’s park. You can choose from various heritage train rides ranging from the likes of BPSMT Steam Ride and toy train.
