National Gallery of Modern Art Delhi

Modern Art has always been the voice of society, highlighting the social and cultural malpractices, voicing the voiceless and pushing the boundary of what art can do in the society. One of the places to witness such modern arts is the National Gallery of Modern Arts. Situated at the end of Rajpath, National Gallery of Modern Art has brought the heart to the center of Delhi.

Modern art has always been upfront and rebellious against the social norms and this is evident in the art exhibited at the gallery. Paintings of various historic rebels are a part of the exhibitions. Artists like Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ravi Varma, Gajendra Nath Tagore, Amrita Sher-Gil, Abindranath Tagore, S.H Raza, and Tyeb Mehta are few of the many famous painters whose paintings are a regular exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art. National Gallery of Modern Art is a shrine for art lovers, especially those who specialize in modern art. It is believed that modern art is not for everybody, highlighting the philosophy of “art for art's sake”. But despite that, the NGMA welcomes everyone who seeks refuge in the art. A three-storey art gallery is divided into various sections and each section is themed distinctly. There is also an outdoor display section which exhibits various creations of art. The iconic bucket pillar is a patent National Gallery of Modern Art artifacts. The adjacent Jaipur House within the premise is another major attraction in NGMA. Famous for its artistic exhibition, Jaipur house provides an insight in to the development of modern art. Visiting themed exhibition in this place is a must thing to do in Delhi.

One of the best places to visit in Delhi, National Gallery of Modern Art has evolved to become a hub for Modern Art Students who come here to explore the existing art in India. A tour of entire facilities takes us through the passage of time and you can see how the society has evolved over the time and how with each era a new social evil has made its roots in the society.
