Supreme Court Museum Delhi

Supreme Court Museum is one such place for travellers in Delhi who want to explore more about the history of the legal system of India. The museum is divided into two parts where the first part puts on display the growth of Judiciary in India, while the second part exhibits the Supreme and Federal Court. The museum is located on the northern part of the Supreme Court of India and embodies the same architectural style. 27 September 2001 was the time when the Supreme Court Museum opened its doors to the visitors.
The museum proudly exhibits a number of artifacts like statues, manuscripts, calligraphies, inscription, along with paintings, souvenirs, and furniture from the Federal Court and Supreme Court in Delhi. And that’s not all, as the museums also house the copies of several Firmans, treaties, Holy Quran, legal documents from the time of Mughals and much more. The museum also houses belongings of the Mauryan Empire period and painting that date back to the British rule.
Major Highlights of the Museum
- Silver coins, Indian postal stamps, maces, canes, wigs, are displayed here.
- An age-old typewriter, a copy of the judgement from the time of Rajahmundry (1804 AD) is also present.
- Case files of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and Indira are also put on display.
- Documentaries on the judicial history of India are aired in the museum.
