Arwa Spires Peak Uttarakhand
Situated in the Chamoli district in Uttarakhand; Arwa Spires peak lies on the south side of the southwest branch of the Arwa Valley. With an elevation of 6193 m, it is comparatively the smallest of the three peaks that make up the Arwa group of mountains. The tallest peak being the Arwa tower peak, later comes the Arwa Crest peak. Apart from being a must-see attraction for the tourists, these group of mountains is also the hub for the adventure activities gaining rapid popularity in Uttarakhand Tourism. The Arwa Spires peak has pyramidal rocky structure at the top that has got two main peaks; the east and the west peaks. However, it is still unclear which of the two peaks is higher. It is this typical structure that the peak got its name from. These intricate series of rocky spires lie at the southwest of the Arwa Tower Peak.
Arwa Spires peak in the Garhwal Himalayas, is one of the most challenging trek even for the high-level rock climbers due its stupendously steep rocky terrain. Thus, it makes trekking and peak climbing in the Uttarakhand Himalayas an unforgettable experience. The Arwa Spires Peak trek commences from the holy town of Badrinath, and Arwa valley act as the Base camp which takes about 3 days to reach. The astonishing beauty of the valley and the surroundings is divine, and immensely peace giving and refreshing for the adventurists.
There are around 6 different routes to reach the Spires peak that includes North Face- Right Hand Couloir, North Face- Fior di Vite, North East Ridge, North East Ridge, Capisco to West Summit and East Ridge - English route. Whereas, the first ascent of the Arwa Spires (East peak) was made in October 2000 by a British expedition led by Kenton Cool, via east ridge, which is now considered as the easiest of all the other 6 routes.
