Nagalaphu Peak Uttarakhand

The invincible peak of Kumaon Himalayas; Nagalphu peak lies in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. With an astonishing elevation of 6,410 m above the sea level, mount Nagalaphu stands erected between the Lassar-Darma valley and Ralam-Gori Ganga valley. Though, it is not listed among the top tallest Himalayan peaks, still this peak is yet to be scaled. The south of the Nagalaphu peak provides rewarding views of the beautiful five peaks of Panchchuli. Whereas, the panchchuli glacier formed by Sona and Meola glaciers are to the east of Nagalaphu, and the large Uttari Balati glacier is to its west.

The peak is not quite among the adventurer’s favorites for various activities like trekking and peak climbing expeditions in Uttarakhand Himalayas. But, as the summit of Nagalaphu is not yet been conquered gives an inviting challenge to many well-trained mountaineers from all over the world to test their potential. To start for the trek to Nagalaphu peak, one has to reach Munsiyari from where most of the treks to the Kumaon Himalayas start. It is nearest place in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand that is accessible through motorable roads from all the major cities and town in India. Kathgodam is the nearest Bus station for Munsiyari, Ramnagar comes as the closest railway station, and the nearest airport for Munsiyari is at Pantnagar.
